Managing a Small Business is hard enough without having to worry about what Accounting Software to use. Do you choose the market leader or look for the cheapest option? Perhaps the free software provided by many banks is the answer? At Tomino we have experience of choosing Small Business Accounts software for our own use.
Work out what features your business needs - most basic packages cover the usual transactions between customers, suppliers, banks etc. But not all cover, foreign currency, stock levels, departments, integration with office software etc. Also the amount of management reporting will vary - how important is this to you?
If you already have an accountant check to see what products they are happy to work with.
Look for an upgrade path from the product you choose to a more sophisticated product. Your business may be small now but in the future who knows? Changing to a completely new product may involve a lot of work.
